Who we are:
We are Bayview Hackathon, a group of high school students in Ontario Canada trying to provide opportunities to fellow STEM students by hosting Hackathons. We all have some experience in hackathons, programming, and leadership.
What we do:
We host hackathons for Canadian students to have a chance to unleash their creativity and potential. We also provide platforms for guest speakers and workshop hosts to communicate with the members. We also look for sponsors and partners to try to provide our members and participants with a better experience. We provide small prizes for the winner of each hackathon to boost their project to the next level.
What is a Hackathon:
A hackathon is where you and your friends can come together, use your coding skills to work on a project on a theme. The theme could be very diverse. You will also be able to participate in small workshops and listen to inspiring guest speakers. You can experience what it will feel like to work in the real world. You will work on a project trying to solve a relevant world problem. You will also get a feel of what it feels like to work in the programming industry.
Why host a hackathon:
Hosting a hackathon is always great for publicity. This shows the organization cares for its community, and the organization can use this brilliant opportunity to connect with its community. This can also be a chance for the organization to see how people work. Organizations can see how people collaborate and work under stress in a project scenario. This will potentially result in recruitment opportunities. This will also provide the organization with solutions from all different angles.
Why participate in a hackathon:
You will have a chance to showcase your skills and prove your worth. Winning a hackathon or participating in a hackathon is proof of recognition and accomplishment. You can also collaborate with other like-minded people, and you might just make your lifetime friend here. You will also have a chance to win small prizes and hopefully, they can help to boost your project to the next level. You will also learn a lot from the workshops, guest speakers, execs, judges, etc.

So, on to the main topic, our upcoming hackathon. Bayview Hackathon is hosting a small hackathon for all Candian high school students. You can work with others or by yourself to try to create a tool that will help our front-line health care workers to better combat the global pandemic. You will also need to submit a short one-minute video. We have invited guest judges from the industry to help judge your amazing products. So come by our Devpost site.

What we need:
- We are looking for general participants, it is free to participate, and you can gain valuable experience and knowledge, so what’s there to lose? Come for a fun and challenging day of coding. Please also spread the news for the best experience possible.
